above: maybe there's something you hope will happen. maybe it will happen today. (art by Phineas X Jones)

Good morning. It's November. Let's take a look at some things.

  • Listen, I know it's exhausting being told to vote by everyone. Those goddamn text messages! And also, I totally get it if you've not felt like voting lately. But can you do me a favor and not sit this one out? If you've been thinking about early voting and it didn't happen, will you please go tomorrow? We have a real chance to kick the shit out of some republicans, and we could use your help. Hold your nose and vote, please. And if you already did? Maybe you could forward this to someone who's on the fence, drive someone from your neighborhood to the polls, whatever it takes. Thanks. I owe you one.
  • Chicago illustrator Phineas X. Jones has made beautiful beer art for 3 Floyds and Half Acre. He designed the new logo for HIFA favorites and local legends Channel 6. He's been drawing fun stuff for the internet for what feels like forever. He's also been experiencing some hard times lately. But! His new project is wonderful and you should consider supporting it.
  • Twisted Teens are the undisuputed rock 'n' roll champions of 2026. The New Orleans troublemakers have released a pair of albums this year and have another one coming on Friday. Their Sub Pop debut, no less! And now, here's their first proper journalistic profile, a wild and generous ride. Get in on the ground floor, folks—we're going to the roof.
  • If you enjoy tense situations involving spies and finding out how many hilarious ways Gary Oldman can deploy the f-word, you should really check out Slow Horses. The sixth season just ended, so you have time to catch up before the seventh and eighth (!!!) begin.
  • My good buddy and fellow ATLien writer Troy Harris II just released a new ebook called Would You Like Half Of My Sandwich? He's been taking this work to communities, companies, colleges, and classrooms all over ATL and now it's online for everyone. Get in there.
  • Looking for a way to support one of ATL's local public schools while enjoying some delicious food and drink? We got you. Simply spend some money at Bona Fide Deluxe in Edgewood on Nov. 17. Tasty sandwiches, an underrated bar, a lovely green space for kids to play on, and 10% of the day's sales go to Toomer Elementary. You simply can't beat that.
  • A few years ago, we wrote about some local dipshits and how they're affecting affordable housing in Atlanta and beyond. It's wild how, if you let people like that get their way, they start to get more powerful and deranged over time.
  • If you enjoy John Prine, Steve Earle, Todd Snider, and songwriters of that nature, I would highly suggest you throw on the new John R. Miller album, The Great Unknowing. He's also playing The EARL on Wednesday.
  • Pre-orders for the Vinny's Mutual Aid Bakery Thanksgiving dinner are about to drop! Subscribe to Vinny's hotplate to get an alert when they go live. (I got a sneak peek of the menu and it's amazing.)
  • Here's why you should watch the new Martin Mull documentary on Netflix.
  • Speaking of cool dead guys, this post stopped me in my tracks the other day, and I'd like to leave you with its wise words: "Thinking about Patrick Stewart and Tim Curry and Dolly Parton and Catherine O’Hara and how many of the tributes shared after they died translate to something like, 'Their art made me feel like I wasn’t alone in the world.' It is hard to think of a better way to spend a life than that."
