let's build affordable, supportive housing in Kirkwood
above: an example of what this project might look like

Perhaps you've heard about the proposed supportive housing project in Kirkwood. It's an exciting opportunity for a community to do right by unhoused seniors living in the neighborhood.

What's more, ATL's zoning review board recently approved the project's rezoning application for the vacant lot on Howard St. where the housing would be built.

Now, it's time for us to help. There are a couple ways to do that coming up soon:

Monday, May 11, 11am: There's a city council zoning committee meeting happening at the Larry M. Dingle Committee Room (55 Trinity Avenue, Second Floor, Atlanta, GA 30303). If you can attend and participate in public comment, that would be super helpful. Participants are not allowed to speak directly on anything that the committee will be voting on, so you can't speak specifically about the Howard St. project. But! You can speak in more general terms about why you support housing the homeless/low income housing/ housing affordability. If you plan to attend, please hit me up so I can connect with you with organizers.

Saturday, May 16, 10am-12pm: Stop by Turner Monumental for a barbecue and letter writing party. The goal is to send letters to the Atlanta Housing Authority to make sure they know that the neighborhood supports this project. (Stick around after for the Kirkwood Spring Fling, which is a reliably great time.)

That's all for now! If you've been following How I'd Fix Atlanta for a while, you know that we're huge proponents of affordable housing. In fact, we consider it a responsibility of those who live comfortably to make sure this kinda stuff gets built. Thanks for your help.
