a new sticker and some news

I like to joke—and it's only really sort of a joke—that I don't know what How I'd Fix Atlanta is anymore. It's essays, of course. But it's turned into a lot of other things over the years as well—zines, fundraisers, live events, etcetera.
And stickers! My god, I love stickers. I was thinking to myself one day about how we should do more stickers, and while I was thinking that it occurred to me that I was actually kind of having a conversation with the guy who decides when How I'd Fix Atlanta has more stickers. So I stopped talking to myself and I reached out to friend-of-HIFA and ATL expat Jason Combs, who whipped up some absolutely bonkers options. After that, the good people of Bluesky overwhelmingly voted for the one you see above.
So here's what we're gonna do. It cost me $324.50 to make a whole bunch of these stickers. If you'd like a couple, please Venmo me any amount you deem appropriate. I'm trying to be better about, ah, you know, not losing money on HIFA every month. But also I love doing this and I'm not a monster, so a pay-what-you-want option seems like a nice middle ground.
All of which is to say: feel free to drop in a dollar or 50 cents or whatever—every little bit helps. Feeling flush and generous? Make it rain. Want a Season Two zine? Those are $25, and I'll throw in some of the new stickers as well as some of the old ones. Be sure to include your snail mail in the Venmo note so I know where to send things. Thanks so much.

Some other stuff:
- How I'd Fix Atlanta alum Rachael Maddux is self-publishing a couple books. You may remember Rachael from her trees essay, which is one of the greatest things HIFA has ever published, imho. Well, now you can get more of her wonderful writing in a physical format. In fact, you can pre-order right here.
- Season Four is right around the corner. Expect the first essay in the next couple weeks. Thanks for your patience on that. I don't know if you've been seeing all the [gestures wildly at everything], but it's kind of a lot! Makes it hard to focus on editing essays and building out a schedule for the season, that's for sure.
- Our lovely sponsor Topping Realty has returned for the first half of Season Four, allowing us to pay each writer $800/essay. That's a) rad, b) more than almost any publication in the world would pay for this kind of work, and c) something I'm truly proud of. But! We currently have no sponsor for the second half of the season. Please be in touch if you or your company would like to help pay some writers a fair wage for their hard work.
- Oh, and if you're a fan of the star of our new sticker, you simply must read Max Blau's 2016 Izzy oral history for Atlanta Magazine.
